Kayla began riding at a young age. As she gained her experience in Eventing, it became clear the drive she had in the sport through her success. Pony Club was her main focus in the early riding years and then she graduated on to become a serious event rider.
Receiving many awards and accolades throughout her riding career, Kayla has tried to become an all round rider in the sport of Eventing. Often competing in many USDF competitions she was able earn her Bronze Medal in dressage, and continues to seek education and gain experience in this portion of eventing.
She continues to pick up knowledge by competing at the high levels of Show Jumping. She has been successful competing in the upper level jumper classes. Being able to have this success has been through the tutelage of great trainers and coaches throughout her riding career.

In her early stages of her riding she rode with, Dayna Lynd-Pugh, who is a ICP Level 4 Advanced rider/Trainer out of FTF in Gilroy, CA. Dayna helped her to the three star level by giving her a wonderful base for being a top event rider while teaching her the importance of horse management. During training with Dayna, Kayla was able to learn and train with Dressage Trainer, Pam Nelson, who is a USDF Gold medalist and was short listed for the Olympics. Kayla also lived close to and train with yet another veteran of eventing, Derek Di Grazia, out of California. Derek is well known in the eventing community for being an International Rider, ICP Level 4 Trainer, Coach, and International course designer. Kayla was fortunate enough to have all these well known trainers in her "back yard".
In 2006, Kayla went to college and was able to take her current event horse with her. Throughout her college days, she was able to balance getting her degree, ride, and compete. During this stage in her life she wanted and knew Eventing was not just a phase, but a lifestyle.
During this time she met and married her supportive Husband. They moved to West Virginia in 2011 and has been there ever since. With his continued support she has been able to create, manage, and see Kayla Bird Eventing bloom.
Being part of the east side of Eventing, she has traveled all over to compete at the top events in the country. In doing so, this has given her the opportunity to expand her knowledge base, by traveling south for part of the winter. She recently went to Ocala and trained with Clayton Fredericks, who is an Olympic Silver Medalist in Eventing in 2008, and an international coach for the Canadian team. She is very excited for what the future holds and loves sharing every exciting moment with family, friends, clients and owners!!
